SERVICES

Administrative Tribunal & Landlord–Tenant Proceedings

I appear before administrative tribunals including the Landlord and Tenant Board. Whether you’re a landlord or tenant, I can help with notices, applications, hearings, and settlement discussions to get results that are fair and legally sound.

Traffic Tickets & Provincial Offences

If you’ve received a traffic ticket or been charged under a provincial or municipal by-law, I can represent you in Provincial Offences Court. I’ll review your case, challenge the evidence where appropriate, and work to reduce fines, points, or other penalties.

Family Legal Services

I am able to assist clients with process navigation in family court, completing applications for joint and uncontested divorces and preparing and arguing motions to change child support based on the payor’s “line 15000/T4 slip” income and excluding special and extraordinary expenses. I am also able to respond to support enforcement proceedings, file domestic contracts and prepare change of name applications.

I am specially trained to provide certain legal services in family law matters, helping to support improved access to legal services for Ontarians.

Summary Criminal Charges

I provide legal representation for certain summary conviction criminal matters—such as minor theft, mischief, or simple assault—where the potential penalty does not exceed six months in jail and/or a $5,000 fine. I’ll stand by your side in court and ensure your rights are protected throughout the process.

Small Claims Court

I help clients resolve disputes in Small Claims Court for matters up to $35,000—whether it’s an unpaid invoice, a broken contract, or a personal injury claim. I manage everything from filing the claim to representing you in court and negotiating on your behalf.

What types of cases can a paralegal handle in Ontario?

I can represent you in Small Claims Court, traffic and by-law offences, summary criminal charges (where permitted by law), and administrative tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board.

What are my legal options for dealing with a difficult or non-compliant tenant?

As a landlord, you have rights under the Residential Tenancies Act, but proper procedure is essential. I can help you determine the appropriate notice to serve—whether for non-payment of rent, property damage, or interference with reasonable enjoyment—and represent you at the Landlord and Tenant Board if a hearing is required. Taking the right legal steps helps avoid delays and ensures your case is handled fairly and efficiently.

How do I know if my case qualifies for paralegal representation?

Paralegals in Ontario are licensed to represent clients in specific areas such as Small Claims Court (up to $35,000), traffic and provincial offences, summary conviction criminal matters, and various administrative tribunals, including the Landlord and Tenant Board and Human Rights Tribunal. If you’re unsure whether your legal issue falls within this scope, I offer a complimentary 30-minute case evaluation. During this consultation, I’ll assess your situation, explain your legal options, and let you know whether I can assist—or refer you to the appropriate legal professional if needed.

Are you able to provide Family Legal Services, including divorces?

I am specially trained and licensed to provide certain legal services in family law matters, helping to support improved access to legal services for Ontarians including divorces.

Do I need a lawyer, or can a paralegal help me?

For many legal matters under $35,000 or involving provincial offences, a licensed paralegal can provide affordable, qualified representation. If your case falls within my scope, I can often handle it from start to finish.

How much do your services cost?

Fees depend on the complexity and type of legal matter, but I strive to offer fair and transparent pricing. I provide a complimentary 30-minute case evaluation to review your situation and explain potential costs upfront. Depending on the case, flat rates, hourly billing, or payment plans may be available. Ask about discounts for Veterans and First Responders.

I have a complex Landlord and Tenant Board matter—do you have the experience to handle it?

Yes — Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) matters are my area of expertise. I bring over two decades of experience in Ontario’s rental housing sector, including two terms as an adjudicator with the former Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal (now the LTB). I’ve presided over and argued hundreds of cases involving evictions, maintenance disputes, rent abatements, and tenant rights. Whether you’re a landlord seeking compliance or a tenant protecting your rights, I offer strategic, informed representation grounded in deep procedural knowledge and a working understanding of how LTB decisions are made. My goal is to help you navigate the process efficiently and secure the best possible outcome.
